MythBusters took it upon themselves to test Walter White’s machine gun booby trap to see if it could really be done. The results were promising.
In the final scene of the hit TV-series Breaking Bad, Walter White rigs his car with a machine gun with the intention of setting it off on his enemies. The booby trap proves successful, showering a group of white supremacists with bullets, killing every last one of them.
MythBusters, who have tested Breaking Bad in the past, decided to give the machine gun booby trap a go.
The hosts of the show, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, were able to successfully build the contraption using materials found in a local town, just as White was purported to do on the television show.
They then made sure they had a brick wall similar to the one used on the show, having roughly the same size and thickness. On the opposite side of the wall they set up cut-out dummies to serve as Walter White and the supremacists.
Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad, joined Savage and Hyneman for the final testing of the booby trap.
The test was successful. “They’re all dead!” Savage enthusiastically said about the cut-out supremacists. White, was also unscathed, further providing evidence of the plausibility of the machine gun booby trap.
The MythBusters have previously attempted to duplicate two other Breaking Bad moments, but both were unfruitful.
“One out of three, that’s like, that’s good in like, baseball,” Gilligan said after watching the machine gun booby trap come to fruition.
The next episode of MythBusters will air on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 9 pm ET.
