The MTV Movie Awards aired last night, with a historic win for Emma Watson.
Watson took home the first ever gender-neutral acting award. “The first acting award in history that doesn’t separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience,” Watson said in her acceptance speech. “MTV’s move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone. But to me, it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. And that doesn’t need to be separated into two different categories.”
Host Adam Divine started the show off with a bang, doing a fun remake of a Beauty and the Beast song, that literally left the stage on fire. “James Corden would do it!” he said, justifying the stunt.
Both Beauty and the Beast and Stranger Things took home the most awards with two. People were also pleasantly surprised when Moonlight won the Best Kiss award for the kiss shared by actors Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome.
