MTV Is Nixing 'Jersey Shore'
Looks like spray tan companies are going to have to start scrambling for new advertising space — MTV has announced that it will end its six-season reality show, Jersey Shore, starring Jenni "Wow Wow" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio, Ronnie Ortiz–Magro, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Deena Nicole Cortese, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and, of course, new mom Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, after its upcoming sixth season.
The season recently wrapped production and will premiere on MTV on Thursday, October 4, but before that, fans can look forward to a retrospective special episode entitled, "Gym, Tan, Look Back" that will air before the Video Music Awards on Thursday, September 6, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Though the cast knew there was a chance that the sixth would be Jersey Shore's final season even while filming, they were not told anything definitive until today. Jersey Shore, which heralded in a new era of reality show, has yielded two spinoffs — The Pauly D Project and Snooki & JWOWW, the latter of which has reportedly been picked up for a second season. No word yet on Pauly D.
Snooki also just had her first child, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle, with Jionni LaValle, last weekend.
