The country music star Morgan Wallen lost his spot on Saturday Night Live as a guest performer due to a TikTok video that went viral. The short video depicts Wallace violating numerous COVID-19 protocols while attending a house party.

The video was filmed and uploaded by the user ashleighludlam. It shows the music star socializing without his mask on, surrounded by numerous people well within six feet, drinking copiously, and kissing at least one unidentified woman. Numerous social media users quickly chastised the video upon its release to the public over Wallen’s careless actions.
Wallen later apologized for his behavior in an Instagram video recorded in a New York hotel room. The country star said, “My actions this past weekend were shortsighted, and they have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams. I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this,” and then taking the time to express remorse with, “I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down… I think have growing up to do.”
The singer noted that he did not test positive with COVID-19 after the events that transpired that night.
Wallen was reassured by Lorne Michaels, SNL‘s creator, that he would be invited back on a later date. This is, of course, under the condition that he respects quarantine rules.
