Morgan Freeman, a longtime marijuana user, recently spoke to the drug’s beneficial effects, as well as his belief that it’s high time to legalize it.

“My first wife got me into it many years ago. How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it!” Morgan told the Daily Beast when asked about his personal usage of marijuana.

“This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs—longer legs,” he added, speaking to the marijuana legalization that started sweeping the country last year. “Now, the thrust is understanding that alcohol has no real medicinal use. Maybe if you have one drink it’ll quiet you down, but two or three and you’re fucked.”

For Freeman, smoking pot isn’t only about recreation, the veteran actor also uses it for medicinal purposes. He believes that the drug could have beneficial medical effects on a wide range of issues, including seizures.

“I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana,” Morgan said. “They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!'”

What also says to Freeman that legalization is a logical step is Woodstock – specifically Woodstock ’69 compared to Woodstock ’99, where there were a number of brawls and arrests.

“Look at Woodstock 1969. They said, ‘We’re not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana,’ and not one problem or fight,” Freeman noted. “Then look at what happened in ’99.”

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court asked the Obama administration to give its thoughts on the lawsuit filed by Oklahoma and Nebraska, which asks for Colorado’s pot legalization to be reigned in.
