Morgan Freeman Lends Voice To GPS App Waze
Morgan Freeman‘s famous voice can now be heard navigating the users of Google GPS app Waze.
Morgan Freeman Voicing Waze Navigation
Freeman’s dulcet tones are currently an option as the navigation voice on Waze. The collaboration is a mutually beneficial arrangement, as Waze is sure to see an uptick in downloads, while Freeman is using it as a promotional gimmick for his new movie London Has Fallen.
In London Has Fallen, Freeman – who has played God in the past – plays the Vice President of the United States. When Freeman’s voice is selected on Waze, the user is addressed by Freeman as though he or she is the POTUS.
“Waze is prepared to make you the President. Starting Monday, February 22, and for a limited time in the United States, Morgan Freeman (in character as Vice President Trumbull from London Has Fallen) will be the voice of Waze,” the company announced in a statement. “Buckle up, listen closely and enjoy the (power) trip.”
In the past, Waze has recruited the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stephen Colbert and Kevin Hart for similar promotions.
Waze, which was developed in Israel, was acquired by Google in 2013 for slightly less that $1 billion.
London Has Fallen, which also stars Gerard Butler, Angela Bassett and Aaron Eckhart and is the sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen, will hit theaters March 4.
