‘Moon Knight’ Star Gaspard Ulliel Dies In Skiing Accident At 37

Gaspard Ulliel, an acclaimed French actor known for It’s Only the End of the World and his anticipated role as Midnight Man in the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, has died at 37.

Ulliel suffered a serious brain injury after colliding with someone while skiing in the French Alps. He was flown to a hospital via helicopter Tuesday night and pronounced dead on Wednesday.

Ulliel was a treasured actor in the French cinema scene. He began acting at the age of 12 while still in school, and while still young at the time of his shocking passing, he had amassed some incredible film roles such as young Hannibal Lector in 2007’s Hannibal Rising, and fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the designer’s 2014 biopic.

Many of the films Ulliel was best known for were critical successes, with Ulliel reportedly being very selective about his roles. He won two César Awards out of four nominations for his acting work.

Ulliel was born in a Paris suburb on November 25, 1984, to Christine and Serge Ulliel. Both of his parents worked in fashion, leading Ulliel to develop an early interest in the arts. Ulliel had a scar on his left cheek from a dog attack that occurred when he was six, and he once joked that he relied on the scar to enhance the emotion of his performances.

The actor has two posthumous performances that have yet to be released. One is his role in the aforementioned Moon Knight, and his final film role will be in the drama More Than Ever, which was filmed in April of 2021 and is currently in post-production.

Ulliel is survived by his 6-year-old son Orso, and girlfriend Gaelle Petri.
