Monica Lewinsky at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party
Monica Lewinsky recently spoke up after Beyoncé announced she would be removing an offensive lyric from her album Renaissance.
Lewinsky shared an article about the modification of Renaissance with the text “Uhmm, while we’re at it… #Partition.”
The lyric from the track in question, the sexually-charged “Partition” off her eponymous 2013 album, called the former White House intern out when Beyoncé sang that a man “Monica Lewinsky’d all on my gown.”
Lewinsky has referred to the lyric in the past. When she penned an essay for Vanity Fair she wrote “Beyoncé’s latest hit gives me a shout-out. Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.'”
Lewinsky refers to herself as a “rap song muse” in her Twitter bio, and it’s true that many artists from Eminem to Lil Wayne to Kid Cudi have used her name in rap verses.
Beyoncé’s team has not yet responded to Lewinksy’s public request for a modification of the nine-year old song.
