Monica Lewinsky’s Black Negligee And 31 Other Items Up For Auction
Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern who had an affair with the then-president Bill Clinton, is the one-time owner of a collection of items, which includes a black negligee, that’s been put up for bid by Nate D. Sanders Auctions.
In addition to Lewinsky’s negligee, the collection includes a letter from Clinton, photographs and cards. Other clothing items in the collection include, a navy-blue velour hoodie from DKNY, an American Rag denim jacket and a yellow linen Ann Taylor jacket.
The 32-item collection had been submitted by Andy Bleiler, Lewinsky’s former high school teacher and lover, during the Kenneth Star investigation. The articles of clothing are said to have been gifts from Lewinsky to Bleiler’s former wife, Kate Nason, who he had been married to at the time of their affair.
Lewinsky’s affair with Bleiler was uncovered during the probe that led up to Clinton’s impeachment in 1999 by the House of Representatives on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. The U.S. Senate later acquitted Clinton, who completed his second term in 2001.
After briefly riding the wave of her infamy by making TV appearances and putting out a line of handbags, Lewinsky now avoids the spotlight and resides in the U.K.
Although the collection is expected to fetch between $25,000 and $50,000 in total, its highest current bidder is offering just $2,750.
