Jake Paul may have won the fight Friday night, but ring girl Sydney Thomas went viral over the weekend—and she didn’t shy away from addressing her sudden fame.
The 20-year-old model and University of Alabama student captivated the viewers at the Mike Tyson–Jake Paul boxing match at AT&T Stadium, quickly becoming a trending topic on social media.
She addressed the surge of attention with a TikTok post on Saturday, captioning it, “I’m happy you guys enjoyed the broadcast!!” with a crying laughing emoji and a heart emoji.
She captioned the video, “Waking up to see I’m trending for the Tyson v Paul fight.”
Thomas boasts nearly 800,000 followers on the platform.
She also took to Instagram, where she has over 400,000 followers, to thank fans for their support. “I woke up to an overwhelming amount of love and support from all of you,” Thomas shared in her Instagram story on Saturday, adding, “I can’t thank you guys enough or begin to express how grateful I am. I love you all — thank you for your kind words.”
In a separate post, Thomas expressed that she was “honored” to be part of the memorable night.
“Getting the opportunity to step into the ring with @MikeTyson and @JakePaul for such a historic fight is something I never imagined I’d be able to say,” she captioned a post.
“Words can’t describe this moment or how grateful I am to be part of such an amazing team at @MostValuablePromotions. History was made, and I’m truly honored to have been a part of it.”
Paul, 287, dominated the match against legendary 58-year-old Tyson via unanimous decision with judges scoring it 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 after eight two-minute rounds. The fight marked Tyson’s first officially sanctioned professional fight in 19 years.
Tyson attracted attention by repeatedly chewing on his gloves.
The Netflix mega-production attracted a massive audience of 60 million viewers and saw 72,300 fans pack the home of the Dallas Cowboys, setting a record $17.8 million gate—the largest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in U.S. history.
