Model Diana Veras gave several online commenters a lesson in body-shaming over the weekend, after some commented insults on a picture of the model in a bathing suit.

Veras posted the photo to social media in celebration of the summer and while most responses were either celebratory or innocuous, others were not, including one that read, “You’re fat.”

In response to the comment on Twitter, Veras retweeted the insult and replied, “And? The [expletive] lmaoooo.”

She also retweeted and replied to another comment that read, “Depends on what thick you’re talking about there is a gross overweight thick and there is an attractive thick.”

“Damn ppl still think like this? I got a lot of work 2 do,” Veras responded.

In addition to calling out the body shamers directly, Veras tweeted out two different pictures of herself in a bikini, with the caption, “Here’s more of my lil chubby ass in a bathing suit since it offends men so much.”

Veras considers herself a body-positve activist and has said in the past that modeling is the reason for her positive shift in her mentality.

“I did a completely nude shoot – you can see my belly in all its glory and my thighs – and ever since I’ve been really confident about my body, because what can anyone say to me now?” Veras told Refinery29. “I’m forced to look at myself and love my body because everyone’s always looking at me.”

“It brings out my femininity the most out of anything I do. I have to indulge and love myself to create and image that everyone else loves and feels.”
