Julianne Moore will join the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, playing rebellion leader Alma Coin.
Lionsgate announced Moore’s addition to the all-star cast, which also features Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutchinson, Woody Harrelson and Philip Seymour Hoffman, on Friday. Her character, Alma Coin, recruits Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) to become the figurehead of her rebellion against the capitol.
The two Mockingjay films will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which will hit theaters Nov. 22. Mockingjay Part 1 is slated for release Nov. 21, 2014, while Part 2 is scheduled for release Nov. 20, 2015.
The Hunger Games franchise was adapted from the young adult trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The first film, released in 2012, earned $691 million worldwide at the box office.
