MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey Plans Her Retirement From Fighting

Just a month before her next fight, MMA fighter Ronda Rousey has announced she is planning to wrap up her fighting career.

RONDA ROUSEY WILL RETIRE FROM FIGHTING SOON

During an interview on the Ellen show, Rousey revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that her next fight “is definitely one of my last fights.” Her next fight is scheduled for Dec. 31 of this year against Amanda Nunes. This will be her first fight since her devastating loss to Holly Holm last November. She had been undefeated up to that point her career, which began in February 2013.

“I’m wrapping it up,” Rousey, who is nicknamed Rowdy, told DeGeneres. “Everybody better watch because the show isn’t going to last forever.”

Her comments, however, aren’t completely surprising. She has said in the past that she does not plan to be fighting much past age 30, which she will turn in February 2017.

Also in the interview, DeGeneres whipped out the now-famous New York Times article in which the newspaper laid out all the people Donald Trump has insulted over Twitter in the past. Rousey somehow made that list, with just the phrase “not a nice person.” Rousey said she wasn’t sure how her name ended up on there, her only guess being because Trump thought she would support him in the 2016 election but she denied the claim. “I think he said I was gonna vote for him and that was news to me,” she mused. “I just said I’m not voting for a reality TV star to be the president.” DeGeneres congratulated her on the feat, and Rousey joked that she would “frame it.”
