Mitch McConnell’s Sister-In-Law, Billionaire Angela Chao, Was Drunk When She Drove Her Tesla Into A Lake & Drowned

Blanco County Sheriff’s Office has released details about the untimely death of Angela Chao, esteemed CEO of a shipping company and sister-in-law of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

According to a comprehensive 62-page incident report, Chao was under the influence of alcohol when she mistakenly reversed her Tesla into a lake at a Texas ranch, which ultimately led to her death.

The report provides a harrowing account of the event that transpired on February 10. After a night out with friends, Chao inadvertently drove her vehicle into the lake and became trapped inside. She contacted a friend for assistance, but as the water level in the car continued to rise, Chao bid her final farewells.

Chao’s friend remained on the call for eight minutes, while another friend paddled towards the vehicle in a kayak and a third friend swam and attempted to reach Chao by climbing onto the car’s roof. However, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Deputies arrived at the ranch shortly after midnight and were informed by the ranch manager that the back door of the Tesla was ajar. Despite multiple attempts to locate the occupant through the back passenger door, they were unsuccessful. Once the window was shattered, a deputy swam down and discovered Chao’s hand. With the assistance of a medic, they successfully extricated her from the submerged vehicle, which had been underwater for approximately 21 minutes. Chao’s body was then brought to shore, where CPR was initiated by the medics, but their resuscitation attempts proved futile.

Toxicology tests revealed that Chao’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.233, approximately three times the legal limit. The incident report concluded that her death was an “unfortunate accident.”

According to the report, Chao, a distinguished Harvard graduate who lived in Austin, had gathered with a group of friends for a weekend getaway, which included a Pitbull concert on February 9. The day following they embarked on a tour of her family ranch in Johnson City. After dinner and drinks at the guest lodge, the group retired to their respective bedrooms or returned home at approximately 11:30 p.m. Surveillance footage captured Chao’s unsteady gait as she walked to her vehicle, cell phone in hand. The recording shows her get into the car and ultimately breach the limestone block wall. The vehicle plunged into the water and within a minute its lights vanished.

According to the report, first responders officially pronounced Chao deceased at 1:40 a.m. Due to religious reasons cited by the family, an autopsy was not performed to further investigate the circumstances that surrounded her death.

The death had initially been investigated as a possible crime.

The significance of Chao’s passing is heightened due to her close association with positions of power. As the CEO of Foremost Group, a prominent shipping company, and the sister of Elaine Chao, the former secretary of transportation in the Trump administration and wife to McConnell, her death reverberates within political circles.
