Missy Elliott made her return to music on Thursday, with her new single and music video titled “WTF (Where They From).”
Elliott hasn’t released an album in ten years, and it’s been three years since she’s released a single. But, on Thursday the hip-hop star surprised fans with her new single and video titled “WTF (Where They From).”
The song features a verse from Pharrell, who also helped produce the record. The single is filled with Elliot’s legendary witty rhymes and a unique hook, to go along with a catchy beat.
The music video is Elliot back to her roots and true to form, with colorful visuals and incredible dance choreography.
The video, co-directed by Elliott and her longtime collaborator Dave Myers, also feature cool Elliot and Pharrell puppets hitting some of their own dance moves, and classic 90s fashion to highlight the golden age of hip-hop.
