On Monday morning, the newly crowned Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach appeared on Good Morning America to declare definitively that she will keep the title for herself.
“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown,” Wurtzbach told GMA‘s Lara Spencer.
After Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo was humiliated on television by host, Steve Harvey, announcing the wrong winner, the new Miss Universe feels that she will have ample career opportunities in her future too.
“”I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia,” said Wurtzbach.
The newly crowned winner also went on to explain how her victory was a “big deal” in the Philippines, which has not had a winner in 42 years. “Everyone’s been anticipating to finally get the crown and we did,” she said.
Wurtzbach went on to say that she hopes to raise awareness for HIV as she travels. As for the crown, she is comfortable right where it is.
“”It’s a little bit heavy but I’m not complaining,” she admitted. “It can stay there for a long time.”
