Miss Universe Organization Strips Miss Argentina Magalí Benejam Of Her Crown After She’s Claims Comepition Is ‘Rigged’

Following a series of controversial statements, Miss Universe Argentina Magalí Benejam has been stripped of her crown.

In a live YouTube broadcast with content creator King Lucho, Benejam, who placed 12th, alleged that the competition was rigged when Miss Denmark Victoria Kjaer Theilvig won in November.

“When they announced the top five, I saw the judges looking at each other in [strange] ways,” she said. “They started looking at each other as if to say, ‘This is not what we chose, this is not what I chose.’ That’s what it felt like from the outside, and that’s where I said, ‘OK, this is fixed.’ It was always fixed, every year.”

Benejam went on to complain about a number of other contestants, from disparaging remarks about their outfits to complaints about the supposed “attitude” she received from Miss Dominican Republic Celinee Santos and Miss Puerto Rico Jennifer Colón.

On January 2, the Miss Universe Organization issued a statement announcing the decision to remove Benejam’s title as Miss Universe Argentia, saying, “Our values focus on celebrating diversity, promoting inclusion, and respecting all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs or experiences.”

The statement continued, “The words and actions of our representatives must reflect these unwavering principles to which all participants commit upon joining the Miss Universe community. The decision comes after careful consideration and aligns with our commitment to uphold the highest standards of personal and professional conduct. We want to emphasize that this action is taken to protect the integrity of the organization and the opportunities it provides to women around the world.”

“We thank the public for their understanding and continued support as we work to ensure that the Miss Universe Organization remains an example of excellence and social responsibility,” they wrote.

Benejam’s Instagram bio still lets herself as “Miss Universe Argentina 2024.”
