She had a hit with "Bring Me Down," but Miranda Lambert, 26, is on cloud nine after making country music history on Wednesday.
Leading the field with 9 nominations, the former Nashville Star finalist will compete against fiance Blake Shelton at the annual Country Music Awards this fall. Following Lambert is country group Lady Antebellum with 5 nominations, and fiance Shelton with 4 nominations, tied with the Zac Brown Band, also with 4.
Among her nominations are female vocalist of the year, single of the year and album of the year, as well as CMA’s top prize, entertainer of the year. Also competing for entertainer of the year are Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Zac Brown Band. Not on the list is last year’s winner, Taylor Swift, whose sole nomination this year is for female vocalist.
Lambert’s 9 nominations fall one short of the overall record for CMA nominations, held by Alan Jackson for his 10 nominations in 2002.
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will return for their third year hosting the CMAs, which will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on November 10. –AMY LEE
