Miranda Kerr is stepping down as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, claiming that the time commitment was too much for her, sources told Page Six.
Victoria’s Secret was reportedly asking Kerr to commit to at least three months out of the year to the popular lingerie brand. However, Kerr felt as though the requirement would be too difficult, and the talks for renewing the Australian model’s contract fell apart.
“Miranda has become a big star — she recently signed a deal with airline Qantas and has just replaced Kate Moss as the face of Spanish fashion line Mango,” a source told the New York Post. “While she loves Victoria’s Secret, the time commitment they needed from her as an Angel became too much for her to fulfill […] Anyone who says otherwise about Miranda, it’s just sour grapes. She is still going to walk in the show this year, and is still committed to the brand, but their relationship is evolving.”
Kerr is married to actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a 2-year-old son, Flynn. The model wants to have the flexibility to join her husband on location with their child, another source told the Post.
On reports that say that Kerr was “being difficult,” Victoria’s Secret’s chief marketing officer Ed Razek says they’re nothing but rumors. “Miranda Kerr is one of the best models in the history of the business — and easily one of the most popular,” he said in statement. “She is also a consummate professional. Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue. We have no plans to stop working with her.”
Razek also confirmed that Kerr will still walk the runway in Victoria’s Secret’s 2013 show.
