Despite having given birth to her first child, Flynn, with sexy hubby Orlando Bloom just seven months ago, the only signs of motherhood that show on stunning Aussie model Miranda Kerr, 28, are in her attitude.
Kerr took to the catwalk in her native Australia on Wednesday for the first time since Flynn's birth, opening for retailer David Jones Spring / Summer 2011 Fashion Launch. The model was as fit as ever, wearing a two-toned bathing suit with a peeping midriff and neckline that plunged almost down to her navel. With her sky-high heels and flawless skin, she was the envy of mothers everywhere who bemoan their stretch marks.
She may look like a million bucks, but Kerr recently told the Sydney Morning Herald that she gained 40 lbs while pregnant with Flynn, who was born weighing nearly 10 lbs. "I was eating so much and my grandma was like, 'Love, you had better stop eating. You're going to make a big baby and I don't know how you are going to push it out.'"
At the time, Kerr was less concerned with the continuation of her career than having a healthy child. "I didn't care if I got stretch marks, I didn't care if I didn't get back into shape. My main focus was to have a healthy child and it didn't matter to me if I could model or not." Luckily, Kerr got the best of both worlds when Flynn was born. He was a healthy child, and her enviable figure stayed intact. Not without a little bit of effort from the health-conscious mom, though.
"For me, it's just about maintaining my health on a continual basis. I'm always drinking a lot of water and getting as much sleep as I can," UK's Daily Mail reported about Kerr's good habits. "Eating healthy is a priority, not just for myself, but for my son. I'm breastfeeding so it's really important …. I wake up in the morning and I have fresh green juice and some oatmeal and blueberries. I just make sure I'm feeling good and well fed."
And on the exercise front, Kerr says, "I have a regular yoga routine I practice and that's the one thing that really keeps me grounded, and on top of that I do have a trainer as well, but to be honest with you, I can be a little lazy when it comes to that because I'm working so hard." Something, however – maybe it's that swimsuit she modeled – suggests that Kerr's idea of slacking off during a workout might differ from the rest of the world's.
