Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr is in New York this week for a Steven Meisel photoshoot, but her thoughts are very much back home in Los Angeles, with her six-month-old son Flynn. Kerr, wife of hunky English heartthrob Orlando Bloom, worries about being at work away from her baby for the very first time. "I’ll only be away for 16 hours. I’ve been expressing milk in advance,” Kerr told InStyle Australia.

Kerr’s staunch refusal to hire a full-time nanny (she is ably supported by her assistant and best friend, Marija Skara) has meant that she has had to cut back on her professional commitments. “I’m still doing less than one quarter of my previous workload,” she admits – but motherhood has reportedly given her a new outlook on life as a model. “I have a different type of awareness and respect for my body now," she said. "I’m not proud of being back in shape; what makes me proud is that he’s healthy, because it means I’m being a good mother.”

With Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom arriving weighing an eye-watering 10 lbs., Kerr’s labor was unsurprisingly harrowing, lasting a grueling 27 hours, she revealed to Conan O’Brien, during which time poor hubby Orlando was not permitted to leave the room at any point, eventually having to resort to peeing into a plastic bottle. Returning to the subject of her impending separation from baby Flynn, Kerr praised husband Bloom. “Orlando’s very hands-on with Flynn and they’re looking forward to some bonding time,” she told InStyle.
