Jennifer Garner filmed Miracles from Heaven in the midst of the media blitz that followed the announcement that she and Ben Affleck had split up, and admittedly became inspired on the set of the religious-themed film to invest in her faith again.
Producer Bishop T.D. Jakes had a firsthand look at Garner’s transformative experience on the Miracles from Heaven set. Jakes believes that the film had a miraculous effect on Garner, and is impressed that she has been so forthright in publicly discussing her renewed faith.
“Jennifer says playing this role brought her back to church again and that it reminded her of faith again in a way that you hardly ever hear anybody out of Hollywood admit openly,” Jakes told uInterview in an exclusive video interview. “I think that in the film itself was a miracle in her life and certainly in mine.”
In Miracles from Heaven, Garner plays mother Christy Beam, whose daughter Annabel is miraculously cured of her chronic digestive disorders after falling head first into a hollow tree. Jakes believes that Garner – mother to Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4, – was able to access her maternal instincts to deliver a raw and honest performance in the movie.
“Jennifer is unbelievable,” says Jakes. “Being a mother herself she is so believable in that role and I know Christy Beam and I know Jennifer and Jennifer just channels Christy Beam in this movie in such a way that it’s just unbelievable.”
Jakes added, “She’s extremely powerful, she brings a prowess and professionalism to it but she also brings a heart of a mother that I think women will connect with. Every mother will definitely connect with this film.”
