Mindy Cohn, best known for her role as Natalie on The Facts of Life, revealed her five-year battle with breast cancer.

MINDY COHN REVEALS 5-YEAR BATTLE WITH BREAST CANCER

In an interview this week, Cohn shares that she was given her diagnosis in 2012 after going to the doctor for exhaustion. “It was breast cancer,” she said. “I kept that a secret for a long time.”

The actress mostly tired to stay out of the spotlight as she went through treatments, therapies, and relapses. “I’ve always been an optimist,” she continued. “But the cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back.” She underwent chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and even a double mastectomy.

“I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would,” she said. “And then I’d wait for another shoe to drop, and it would. I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”

Today, Cohn is happy to report that she is cancer free. Fans first became aware of her illness in May when she posted a photo to her Instagram account. “Finally ever so ready to jump back in full force…got my first official haircut post “ordeal” with my cherished and trusted @alittlesnippy #f**kcancer #actressforhire #moxie,” she captioned the snap.

Now that she’s past it, Cohn says that she is ready to put cancer behind her. “I’m feeling great,” she told People. “And I’m so ready to get back to working. I think I’m a good actress, and I have a lot to offer. I’m excited to see what I get to do next!”
