Millionaire Royal Meghan Markle Complains She’s ‘One Of The Most Bullied People In The World’

On Friday, Meghan Markle visited Girls Inc. in Santa Barbara, California to celebrate International Day of the Girl.

Since its initiation in 2012, International Day of the Girl has served as a largely unadvertised holiday to increase awareness about gender inequality and support female empowerment. International Day of the Girl has a different theme every year, this year being “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”

In celebration of the day this year, The Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit Markle shares with her husband Prince Harry, partnered with the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation and Melinda French Gates’ company Pivotal Ventures to support a partnership between Girls Inc. and #HalfTheStory, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering healthy relationships with technology in younger generations. The association strives to provide young girls in underserved communities with digital wellness programming.

A statement from the Archewell Foundation, which has been partnered with Girls Inc. since 2021, declared, “This new educational initiative will equip girls with the essential tools to thrive in the digital age while fostering healthier, more balanced relationships with technology.”

At a previous event for the festival in Texas, Markle spoke about her experience with the negative side of social media: “I keep my distance from it right now for my wellbeing but the bulk of the bullying and abuse I was experiencing in social media and online was when I was pregnant with Archie and with Lili, and with a newborn, with each of them.”

She continued, “It’s not catty it’s cruel…as a mom, it’s such a tender and sacred time.”

As reported by a press release about the technology efforts, teens of lower socioeconomic status are more likely to use all social media platforms, especially Facebook and TikTok, than their higher socioeconomic status counterparts – and thus, children in lower-income neighborhoods are likely to be exposed to more of the harmful effects of the digital age.

Founder and CEO of #HalfTheStory Larissa May said in the release: “As a young girl who nearly lost my life to social media, it’s a dream come true to bring #HalfTheStory’s work to the masses through Girls Inc…As #HalfTheStory celebrates its 10th anniversary this month, this partnership marks a pivotal moment in our mission to reach one million youth by 2030 and improve the next generation’s relationship with technology. We can’t save the world through fear — only through solutions.”

“We did an activity where we talked through a bunch of scenarios, and Meghan talked about being one of the most bullied people in the world,” May told Vanity Fair.

Markle herself has been accused of bullying. Recently, members of her staff have come forward to describe her as a “dictator in heels” to reporters.
