Miley Cyrus To Star In Woody Allen’s Amazon Series

Miley Cyrus has been tapped to play a major role in Woody Allen‘s highly anticipated Amazon series.

Miley Cyrus In Woody Allen Series

Cyrus confirmed her participation in the yet-to-be-titled Allen series on Instagram.

“F–k yeah ! Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!!” Cyrus wrote. “I had claimed 2016 to be my year of ‘chillin the fuck out’ but next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. & I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be apart of the cast and work alongside the bad a$$ Elaine May & da dude himself! 1960zzzz here I [come] ?????.”

Cyrus will act alongside Allen himself, as well as screenwriter and comedian Elaine May, who starred in Allen’s 2000 film Small Time Crooks.

As of yet, no title or summary of the Amazon series has been revealed by Allen or Amazon. All that’s currently known is that the six half-hour episodes will be set in the 1960s.

Allen, a prolific filmmaker who puts out one feature a year, has never done his own TV series. While at the Cannes Film Festival promoting Irrational Man last year, he admitted that he had come to regret agreeing to make the streaming series, as he hadn’t even known what “streaming” was when he inked the deal.

“I don’t even know what a streaming service is; that’s the interesting thing. When you said streaming service, it was the first time I’ve heard that term connected with the Amazon thing. I never knew what Amazon was,” Allen told Deadline. “Amazon kept coming to me and saying, please do this, whatever you want. I kept saying I have no ideas for it, that I never watch television. I don’t know the first thing about it.”

“And I have regretted every second since I said ok. It’s been so hard for me,” Allen added. “I had the cocky confidence, well, I’ll do it like I do a movie… it’ll be a movie in six parts. Turns out, it’s not. For me, it has been very, very difficult. I’ve been struggling and struggling and struggling. I only hope that when I finally do it — I have until the end of 2016 — they’re not crushed with disappointment because they’re nice people and I don’t want to disappoint them. I am doing my best.”

Allen’s series, which begins shooting in March, is set to make its debut on Amazon in late 2016.
