Mike Tyson Reveals Jamie Foxx’s Mysterious ‘Medical Complication’ Was A Stroke

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson revealed Jamie Foxx suffered a stroke in April, amid ongoing medical recovery. Foxx’s family previously shared that he had suffered from a “medical complication” while filming the upcoming Netflix film Back in Action in Atlanta, but did not provide a cause or further details.

Speaking to Patrick Bet–David and Michael Franzese on a May 16 episode of the PBD Podcast, the 56-year-old boxing legend was asked if he has followed the actor’s hospitalization news. “He’s not feeling good,” Tyson confirmed. “Yea, they said stroke. I had no idea what happened to him.”

Bet-David expressed how shocked he was to have heard of Foxx’s hospitalization, as he had seen him looking well and healthy shortly prior to the news. “Hey listen. We can’t anticipate that next breath,” Tyson warned the podcast host. “We don’t know when we’re gonna die. After we leave this, bad stuff can happen.”

The 55-year-old beloved actor and comedian is currently receiving medical treatment in Chicago, at one of the top physical rehabilitation centers in the country. The center reportedly specializes in treatment for adults with “most severe complex conditions,” including stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury.

As well as Back in Action, Foxx was set to star as “Iron Mike” in an upcoming biopic series. “Well, it was a possibility. I don’t know what’s going to happen now,” Tyson said, suggesting the series has been postponed in light of Foxx’s hospitalization. “But, you know, it’s a strong possibility because, Jamie’s closer to my age, so in order to do him, they were going to do what they did with Benjamin Button. They were going to make him look younger.”

Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, took to social media earlier this month to clarify any misleading coverage on her father’s recovery.

“Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild,” the 29-year-old wrote in an Instagram Story. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”

The actress, who co-hosts Fox’s Beat Shazam with her father, concluded the Instagram post, saying that they have “an exciting work announcement coming next week too!”

It was later revealed that the father-daughter duo is returning to Fox for an upcoming series titled We Are Family.

“We are thrilled to be developing We Are Family with Jeff Apploff and our friends at Fox Entertainment after so much success with six seasons of Beat Shazam,” Corinne and her father said in a press statement. “We hope this show brings as much fun to audiences at home as we’ve had creating it when it premieres next year.”
