Melanie Hamrick, 37, the girlfriend of Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger, 81, declared that she doesn’t mind the 44-year age gap between herself and her boyfriend.
Hamrick claims she was not initially interested in Jagger. “Ballet dancers meet some of the biggest stars and act, like, ‘Who are you?’ Because ballet dancers are the gods to us,” she told the UK’s Sunday Times. “That’s who you study and look up to. You’re so in your world.”
The choreographer shared why she doesn’t mind the age gap between herself and Jagger.
“I don’t think about it,” Hamrick stated. “Everyone’s going to have their opinion. If you think about others’ opinions, no matter where you are in life, you’re going to have a problem, and you’re going to analyze it.”
“I put the blinders on,” she added. “Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”
The English musician and Hamrick met shortly before the death of his longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott, who committed suicide in March 2014, backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in Japan.
At the time, Jagger was still in a relationship with Scott, and Hamrick was engaged to another man.
Nothing romantic allegedly happened until Scott’s passing when the choreographer reached out to Jagger.
Jagger was also spotted at a Saturday Night Live afterparty with Hamrick and Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny and his then-girlfriend, Kendall Jenner.
