Mick Jagger just kicked off the Rolling Stones tour just two months after undergoing heart surgery. The rock legend performed to a crowd of 60,000 people at Soldier Field in Chicago on Friday night, in the first date of the North American leg of the band’s No Filter world tour.

On the Daily Derrenger podcast, Jagger said that he was “feeling pretty good” ahead of the tour and that he was spending a lot of time in rehearsals. However, compared to previous schedules and concerts back in the day, he and his bandmates have been slowing down a little.
“I don’t tour all the time, 12 months a year,” he said. “When you’re young, that’s what you do.” He then added that he now spends about “three or four months on the road in the year, and it seems to be a good balance.”

The Rolling Stones had originally cancelled 14 of their original tour dates in order to allow Jagger time to recover after his valve replacement surgery in April, and his bandmates seem pretty astounded by how quickly he has bounced back.
Keith Richards told The Toronto Sun, “He went through it very easily. He’s in great shape — rocking. As I say, it seemed to be no problem at all, really. It was just like, ‘Oh, Mick will be better.’ We’ll just wait around because there was no doubt that we’d soon pick it up. it just had to be done. So we did it.”
