Michiel Huisman has not been shy when it comes to filming nude scenes on HBO’s hit medieval fantasy series Game of Thrones.
Huisman joined the cast of Game of Thrones for the show’s fifth season, replacing British actor Ed Skrein in the part of Second Sons captain Daario Naharis. As the Tyrooshi mercenary who becomes an advisor and lover to Dragon Queen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Huisman has had to bare it all on screen more than once.
For Huisman, getting naked for Game of Thrones feels almost commonplace, as nudity has been a part of the series from the very beginning. In the role of a warrior, being nude makes all the more sense to the Dutch actor.
“You know, I think it’s in the DNA of the show. It’s a bloody, epic, sexy show,” Huisman told uInterview exclusively. “And I just don’t have any other costume. This guy’s a warrior so he’s either wearing his armor, and he’s not going to wear his armor in bed, so there you go.”
In addition to Game of Thrones, Huisman can be seen on TV in ABC’s Nashville and BBC’s Orphan Black, and on the big screen opposite Blake Lively in The Age of Adaline.
