Michelle Obama
Former First Lady Michelle Obama is getting involved with the 2018 midterm elections through a voter registration initiative called “When We All Vote.” The effort will be strictly nonpartisan, a fact that, according to Politico, has both excited and frustrated top Democrats who were hoping that Obama would campaign more directly.

A major part of the initiative is a series of PSA’s featuring some high-profile celebrities. The first one (which you can watch below) popped up last week, and it features Tom Hanks, Janelle Monáe, Chris Paul, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw extolling the evergreen virtue of fulfilling one’s democratic civic duty. Other, as yet unidentified, activists are expected to appear in future videos.

“When We All Vote” will also consist of Obama appearing at live events and sending personal messages to potential voters urging them to register. While the initiative is nonpartisan, there is speculation that it could help Democrats, based on the belief that when more people vote, it benefits Democrats overall.
