Michelle Obama stunned in an ivory strapless dress at the White House’s state dinner for the prime minister of Singapore on Tuesday.
Brandon Maxwell, Lady Gaga’s friend and go-to designer, designed the gown that looks like it was sculpted out of clay. Maxwell dressed Lady Gaga most recently for the Oscars in a similar look. Michelle Obama’s floor-length dress featured a belted waist and pleats in the back. The simple silhouette and straight neckline that folded over the bodice flaunted the First Lady’s toned arms and shoulders. She paired the dress with Butani earrings and two rings. The ethereal dress got a thumbs up from President Obama.
Maxwell expressed what an honor it was to dress the FLOTUS in a statement: “Strong and elegant, she is the embodiment of the woman that inspires me to create, and a role model for women all over the world. I am very thankful for the opportunity.”
Tuesday marked the 12th and last state dinner for the Obamas. They greeted Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching at the black-tie event.
To get the First Lady’s timeless look try a Back Ruffle Off the Shoulder Gown from Brandon Maxwell. For a cheaper alternative try a Strapless Mermaid Gown from Jill Jill Stuart.
