Michelle Obama Beyonce Birthday Tribute News

The former First Lady paid tribute to the Queen Bee on her 36th birthday (#BeyDay) by dressing up as Beyonce in her 2016 “Formation” music video.

Obama — who is close friends with Beyonce — was one of several of the R&B star’s famous friends and family to replicate her “Formation” look to wish her a happy birthday. Among the other celebrities who donned the outfit wereformer Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, tennis champion Serena Williams, and Bianca Lawson.

Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, and grandmother Hattie White, Jay-Z’s mother Gloria Carter, and the couple’s 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy were also photographed. There were 18 women photographed in total.

The photo-shoot is also intended to encourage fans to donate to relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, which has devastated Beyonce’s hometown of Houston over the past ten days, with the hashtag #BEYGOODHOUSTON.

“Join us as the BeyGOOD team heads to Houston to continue our relief efforts on the ground,” a statement read. “We have teamed up with Bread of Life, Greater Houston Community Foundation, and Texas Southern University, all of whom have been working with the displaced from the start of Hurricane Harvey’s landfall.”

“Your donations will help in long-term revitalization and aid in purchasing immediate needs including: cots, blankets and pillows, baby products, feminine products, wheelchairs and more.”

Fans online went crazy with excitement over the photo:

Beyonce and Jay-Z have been close friends with Michelle and Barack Obama for years.

The Queen Bee serenaded the Obamas with the Etta James hit “At Last” during their 2009 Inauguration ball and she also sang the National Anthem at Barack Obama’s 2013 inauguration.

Michelle Obama and Beyonce also teamed up in 2011 for the former’s “Let’s Move” campaign, whose primary objective is to fight childhood obesity.

The former first lady also praised Beyonce during a 2016 interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“She’s smart, she’s creative, she’s a great mother, she loves her family,” said Obama. “She’s just a low-key lady. We have a lot in common in that way. Except I can’t sing, I can’t dance.”
