Michelle Obama Is The Only Democrat That Leads Trump In New Poll – By 11% Margin

According to a new poll, one in three Democrats think President Joe Biden should end his reelection bid this year.

The poll followed Biden’s weak debate performance against former President Donald Trump on June 27.

On Thursday night, the president’s halting and muddled debate performance caused significant panic among Democrats, unleashing discussions about whether he should be replaced on the ticket just two months before his scheduled official nomination.

Throughout the 90-minute debate, Biden struggled and mumbled his answers.

Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted online from July 1 to July 2 and surveyed 1,070 American adults nationwide, found that nearly 32% of Democrats want Biden to drop out of the race.

This came after he was seen stammering throughout the debate last week.

It also showed that more and more Democrats want him to be replaced as their nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

However, no prominent elected party member does better than the president in a hypothetical matchup against Trump.

The poll put the names of top Democrats before respondents.

Vice President Kamala Harris fell behind Trump by 1 point and gained 42% support against his 43%, a difference that fell within the poll’s 3.5 percentage point margin of error.

Harris’s numbers had been statistically as strong as Biden’s.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-California) lost to the 45th U.S. president by 3 points, 39% support to his 42%.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Michigan ) received 36% support, while Trump received 41%.

Aside from former First Lady Michelle Obama, no other candidate outperformed Biden.

Obama led the former president 50% to 39% in a hypothetical matchup.

However, she frequently stated that she has no interest in running for the 2024 election. The former first lady even put out a statement in March declaring that “she would not be a candidate” in 2024.

Despite this, the poll indicated that Biden might have retained ground since the debate since he and Trump maintained the support of 40% of registered voters.

June 2023 USA Today/Suffolk University poll found that, in a possible rematch of the 2020 presidential election, 34% of voters would back Biden, and 32% would back Trump.

The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters across America via landline and cell phone.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s (DDHQ) average of polls shown in late May, Biden was ahead of Trump by 0.1%

The president polled at 45% support to his opponent’s 44.9%.
