Michael Keaton
Michael Keaton may be returning to the comic universe as a villain, according to reports on Friday.
Sources reportedly say Keaton is in early talks to play a villain in the Marvel and Sony co-production Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man.
Keaton, if accepting the role, will be making a transition from DC Comics to Marvel.
The actor is known for his role as Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989.
Marisa Tomei is currently set to play Aunt May, and Zendaya is also on board in a mystery role. The villain Keaton may play is also being kept under wraps.
Jon Watts is directing the film from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the film, which focuses on a teenage Peter Parker’s high school years.
Plot details are still unknown and production is expected to start this summer.
Marvel and Sony had no comment on the casting.
Keaton was recently seen in Birdman and Spotlight, which both won Oscars for best picture. Keaton also received a best actor nomination for Birdman.
Keaton can be seen in the film The Founder as McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, which premieres in theaters on Aug. 6.
