Michael Douglas Blames Himself For Son's Jail Term

Michael Douglas, 65, admitted the criminal charges surrounding his son, aspiring DJ and actor Cameron Douglas, are partly the result of his inattention as a father while he was growing up. “My priorities were very similar [to my father’s],” he tells Vanity Fair. “Career first.”

Douglas’s estranged son pled guilty for trafficking voluminous amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine in New York City last year. His sentence date is set for April 27, 2010. Douglas now considers fatherhood a source of joy and not guilt–he’s striving for a more healthy relationship with his two children born to second wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. The actor even expressed hope for reconciling with Cameron, citing that he and his celebrity father, Kirk Douglas, have grown closer over the last decade. –AHMED MORI
