Director Michael Bay is set to produce a futuristic thriller set in a Donald Trump-run dystopian America.
MICHAEL BAY TO PRODUCE DYSTOPIAN FILM LITTLE AMERICA
The script, called Little America, was recently picked up by Universal Pictures for an undisclosed amount following a Hollywood bidding war. The fun but thrilling adventure film will be set in a future America that has been bankrupt by the president. China has cashed in on the U.S. debts owed the country, and many Americans are forced to emigrate to China for employment.
Writer-director Rowan Athale is best known for his 2012 crime thriller Wasteland, as well as alien invasion movie Revolt. Bay, while just the producer on this project, has his next directorial role on Transformers: The Last Knight, as his production arm, Platinum Dunes, is working on a Friday the 13th reboot and a new Jack Ryan series for Amazon.
Little America is being billed as a sci-fun movie (a play on sci-fi), with a similar tone to 1981 John Carpenter film Escape From New York.
