Television personality Michael Strahan‘s daughter, Isabella Strahan, 19, has reached a significant milestone in her recovery from brain cancer.
In a recent update, Isabella shared that she has recently undergone a procedure to have her chemotherapy port removed, which marks a crucial step in her recovery process.
The USC student, who was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, in October 2023, has undergone several rounds of intensive treatment, which includes chemotherapy and multiple brain surgeries.
Medulloblastoma is the most common type of cancerous brain tumor in children. It starts in the cerebellum, the lower back part of the brain and affects muscle coordination, balance and movement.
“All gone. But the only thing that kind of is very sore is where the actual port was,” she said in a hospital video shared on her YouTube vlog on July 17, 2024. Isabella also noted that the post-operative care would involve a four-week recovery period, in which time she would need to be cautious and focus on scar care.
Isabella’s journey has been documented through her own video vlogs, where she has provided her followers with insights into her experience. In one of her videos, she shared footage of herself in Scooby-Doo and Inside Out-themed hospital rooms, an indication of the support and care she received from her parents and twin sister, Sophia Strahan.
Strahan, the former NFL star and Good Morning America co-host, has been a vocal and steadfast supporter of his daughter throughout her health battle. In an Instagram post on June 16, he reflected on his immense pride in Isabella‘s resilience, “@isabellastrahan you are a SUPERWOMAN. Ringing that bell finishing chemo and on your way. You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella.”
