Larry Vance, a renowned air crash investigator, has said that he believes Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was flown into the sea deliberately, according to reports on Sunday.

MH370 Flight Deliberately Piloted Into The Sea

Vance told Australian news program 60 Minutes that erosion along the trailing edge of recovered MH370 wing parts, indicated a controlled landing.

An Australian-led search for the missing plane has reportedly focused on an area of the ocean floor miles off Australia’s west coast. The zone was selected based on the theory the flight was running on autopilot after running off the grid.

However, if someone had been in control of the plane at the time of the crash, wreckage could be found outside of that search zone, according to a search official.

Vance was formerly investigator-in-charge for the Canadian Aviation Safety Board and has led more than 200 air crash investigations.

The crash expert explained that the absence of so much of the plane’s wreckage suggests MH370 landed in controlled circumstances.

“Somebody was flying the airplane at the end of its flight,” Vance said. “Somebody was flying the airplane into the water. There is no other alternate theory that you can follow.”

Recent reports have noted that MH370 pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah had an Indian Ocean course plotted on his home flight simulator prior to the plane’s disappearance — insinuating Zaharie may have planned the crash.

In spite of the search of the southern Indian Ocean, no trace of the aircraft was found, until the discovery of a wing section called a flaperon on Reunion Island off Madagascar in 2015.

Vance recognized that the flaperon appeared to be deployed for landing, indicating that someone was piloting the plane when it crashed into the ocean.

“You cannot get the flaperon to extend any other way than if somebody extended it,” he declared. “Somebody would have to select it.”
