Met Gala Raises Ticket Prices To $50,000 For 2023, Leading Many Celebrities To Pass

The 2023 Met Gala, which will celebrate the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld, has reportedly raised ticket prices to $50,000.

The exclusive invites for this year’s Costume Institute exhibition, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which few are lucky enough to get, have reportedly gone up by $15,000 since last year’s In America: An Anthology of Fashion event, reportedly leading many guests and Metropolitan Museum of Art donors to opt out of attending the much-loved annual celebration of fashion hosted by Anna Wintour.

Some designers have also passed on the gala because they did not want to adhere to this year’s arguably more specific theme honoring Wintour’s close friend and late designer who passed in 2019. Sources believe that Chanel’s iconic style will overshadow other designers.

The 2023 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 1 in New York City.
