Country crooning legend Merle Haggard, 74, has been hospitalized in Macon, Georgia for a respiratory illness.
The "Okie from Muskogee" singer was about to go on stage on Tuesday night when he had to cancel his show last minute due to illness, reports Rolling Stone.
Frank Mull, Haggard's tour manager, confirmed that the singer hadn't been feeling well even when he left his California home last week to kick off the tour. "He thought he was well enough to work and he did work three dates, and he got progressively worse," said Mull.
Haggard will also be forced to cancel the rest of his January concerts to allow for recovery time, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
