Family Times actress Meredith Baxter married her longtime partner Nancy Locke over the weekend in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles.

The wedding on Sunday afternoon was attended by Baxter’s five children and other family members and close friends of the couple, reported People. They all watched on as Baxter and Locke exchanged handwritten vows and enjoyed music played by a guitarist friend of the couple, as well as Locke’s band.

“Now I understand why marriage caught on!” Baxter told People.

Baxter and Locke, a contractor, have been dating for seven years and obtained a marriage license last month in Beverly Hills. After coming out in 2009, Baxter, who has been three-times married to men, said that her relationship with Locke is the “healthiest” she’d even been in.

Baxter was previously married to Robert Lewis Bush, stage actor David Birney and actor-turned-writer Michael Blodgett, whom she divorced in 2000. Two years later, she dated a woman for the first time.

Baxter is currently filming feature Undateable John with Daryl Hannah and Tom Arnold. She recently appeared on Fox musical dramedy Glee and played one half of a longtime lesbian couple with Patty Duke and served as a mentor to teenage couple Blaine and Kurt.
