Former advisor to First Lady Melania Trump, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff is set to release an “explosive” book about her time working with the president’s wife. The book is titled Melania and Me and will be available on September 1.
Wolkoff had worked on President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017 and soon became both Melania’s top advisor and confidante. The book will reportedly focus on the negative aspects of Wolkoff’s experience working with the Trump family and her friendship with the first lady.
Rumors of the release of a tell-all book had been circulating, but nothing had been confirmed until Amazon listed Melania and Me available for pre-sale on Monday. However, both Google Books’ and Simon & Schuster’s websites had a place holder for Wolkoff’s work. Google Books listed it as “Untitled SWW” in the autobiography section and described it as, “a revealing and explosive portrayal of Stephanie Winston Wolkoff’s fifteen-year friendship with Melania Trump and observations of the most chaotic White House in history.”
After the 2017 inauguration Wolkoff and Melania had a falling out when it came out that Wolkoff’s firm had received $26 million from the Trump Inaugural Committee. In 2019, Wolkoff told The New York Times, “Was I fired? No. Did I personally receive $26 million or $1.6 million? No. Was I thrown under the bus? Yes.” During this time, Wolkoff was also working with the federal prosecutors who were conducting an investigation on the Trump inaugural committee’s fundraising and spending.
An email from Melania to Wolkoff was also included in the article. It read, “I am sorry that the professional part of our relationship has come to an end, but I am comforted in the fact that our [friendship] far outweigh[s] politics. Thank you Again! Much love.”
Wolkoff had reportedly signed a nondisclosure agreement for her time spent working with the inaugural committee.
This will be Simon & Schuster’s second Melania book published this summer. Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan wrote The Art of Her Deal in which she explained the rivalrous relationship between Melania and Ivanka Trump.
