The new First Lady showed off her fashion sense at the inaugural ball yesterday.
Melania Trump wore a vanilla, strapless silk gown was all about sleek tailoring, curves and a monochromatic palate.
The former fashionista looked right at home in the dress accessorized with a subtle red belt and gorgeous sculptural ruffle she designed with Herve Pierre, former creative director of Carolina Herrera.
Pierre said in a statement to Women’s Wear Daily that the First Lady put her own distinct imprint on the dress.
“She knows what she likes,” Pierre said. “Our conversations were, and are, very easy. She knows about fashion, as a former model. She is aware about constructions, so we have already the same vocabulary when it comes to designing a dress.”
“It’s elegant, yet understated, with a high-fashion twist — which seems to be her signature style. Melania is already making her mark as a style icon,” celebrity stylist Norma Jayne Seward commented.
