Michael Cohen, Donald Trump‘s former fixer, who was charged by the special counsel for bank fraud, tax fraud and campaign finance violations, testified before Congress last week. During his testimony, Cohen admitted to many misdeeds he performed under Trump’s guidance. Yet, the biggest thing he regrets was lying to First Lady Melania Trump about her husband’s alleged affair with porn star, Stormy Daniels.

“Mr. Trump is a conman. He asked me to pay off an adult film star with whom he had an affair, and to lie to his wife about it, which I did. Lying to the First Lady is one of my biggest regrets. She is a kind, good person. I respect her greatly – and she did not deserve that,” Cohen told Congress.

Cohen claims that Trump paid Daniels off to keep quiet about the affair. Trump allegedly paid Daniels $35,000 in 11 installments using campaign money. Cohen himself paid for the first installment, which Trump later reimbursed him for with a written check Cohen shared with Congress.

The first lady has yet to publicly address the allegations that her husband had an affair with Daniels, which started a few months after Melania gave birth to son Barron Trump. Melania told ABC News, that Trump’s affair wasn’t an issue for her.

“It is not a concern and focus of mine,” she said. “I’m a mother and a first lady and I have much more important things to think about and to do. I know people like to speculate and the media like to speculate about our marriage.”
