Melania Trump‘s spokeswoman hit back at a joke made by a Food Network host who insinuated that President Donald Trump is not Barron‘s real father.
John Henson, host of Halloween Baking Championship, tweeted on Father’s Day, “I hope Barron gets to spend today with whoever his dad is.” Henson is an outspoken critic of the president on Twitter with more than 30,000 followers.
Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s spokeswoman, responded in a statement.
“Sadly we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the President’s son [Barron Trump],” she said.
Many people called out Henson’s joke on Twitter, which caused him to defend his comments.
“With respect, I think you dissecting it is the issue. The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barron’s name doesn’t mean it’s at his expense,” he said.
