Former First Lady Melania Trump defended her nude modeling career in a video in which she promoted her memoir, Melania.
Melania’s modeling career began when she was discovered by a Slovenian photographer at age 16. Two years later, she signed with a modeling agency in Milan.
She modeled in Paris and Milan for some time before moving to New York in 1996.
Over the years, Melania appeared on several major magazine covers, including a 2000 British GQ cover in which she was photographed naked on her husband’s plane.
On September 18, Melania posted her promotional video on X.
“Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work,” she asked in the video. “The more pressing question is: Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot? Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body? Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration.”
The video then showed a series of well-known nude statues and artworks had been shown in the video, including Michelangelo’s “David” and Paul Cézanne’s “Bathers.”
“We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression,” she said.
The video then ended with a link to purchase Melania’s memoir.
The First Lady promised to share “the truth” in her 256-page memoir, which will be released on October 8.
Skyhorse Publishing, the book’s publisher, called it “a powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity and defined personal excellence.”
Melania returned to the spotlight in July when appearing at the RNC in Milwaukee.
