Former First Lady Melania Trump accused Vogue of being “biased” for not putting her on its cover during her time at the White House.
In an interview with Fox Nation, Trump was asked why the magazine decided against having her on its cover, unlike First Ladies Jill Biden, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Vogue has traditionally been known to do photoshoots with incoming first ladies. Clinton appeared on the cover in 1998 and was the first of the first ladies to be featured on Vogue‘s cover. Both current first lady Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on the magazine’s cover in 2021.
“They are biased, and they have likes and dislikes, and it’s so obvious,” she said. “And I think American people and everyone see it, and I have much more important things to do — and I did in the White House — than being on the cover of Vogue.”
Trump first made her appearance on the cover of Vogue in 2005 after her wedding with Donald Trump wearing her wedding dress.
According to the Daily Beast, a former unpaid senior adviser for Trump, Stephanie Winston-Wolkoff, revealed that the fashion magazine did request the former first lady do a photo shoot. Still, she eventually declined when the magazine would not guarantee cover placement.
