Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson was not shy about his feelings on Batman vs. Superman when he spoke about it at the Venice Film Festival while promoting his new film Hacksaw Ridge.
In a discussion with Deadline, Gibson said he disliked when studios create massively expensive blockbusters. “Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic-book superheroes is?” he asked the reported. “Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex. So I don’t know. Spandex must cost a lot.”
Most critics agree with Gibson’s sentiment. Vox referred to it as a “stink bucket of disappointment,” while The Telegraph concluded, “No major blockbuster in yeas has been this incoherently structured, this seemingly uninterested in telling a story with clarity and purpose.”
Gibson, whose brash and controversial opinions have oft been the subject of the news, finally echoes what the majority says, even if in so few words as to simply call the blockbuster “a piece of s–t.”
