Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show Will Likely Be Scrapped Because Of Poor Performance Of New Series With Prince Harry, ‘Polo’

Meghan Markle’s anticipated Netflix cooking series will likely be cut due to the critics’ poor reviews of her husband Prince Harry’s documentary series, Polo.

Markle and Harry’s respective Netflix projects were announced in April. Alongside the docuseries about the equestrian sport, Markle had planned a show which would, “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” – and simultaneously launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Polo, which came out earlier this month, was produced by both Harry and Markle and features elite global players preparing for games, on and off the field. In an attempt to appeal to modern, sex-obsessed culture, the trailer portrayed the series as an opportunity to watch “dirty, sweaty boys… riding.”

The show has been met with an overwhelmingly negative response, with claims that it is “boring” and centered on a sport with a very small following, as it is historically reserved for wealthy families.

The cooking show supposedly finished filming earlier this summer, but after Polo’s savage reviews, Netflix is reportedly considering scrapping the show altogether.

Harry and Markle’s $100 million contract deal with Netflix is set to end next autumn, and it is not expected that there will be another, and certainly not one of that magnitude. A source from Netflix told The Daily Mail that Markle’s show “May not see the light of day,” and details of the series have only been shared with a very “tiny audience of executives in the US.”

They emphasized, “There won’t be another deal. There may be one-offs, but that’s it.”

Harry and Markle’s poor ratings have affected their social status and reputation with other celebrities. Notably, Markle was not seen at the party Oprah Winfrey threw for the two’s mutual friend Gayle King over the weekend. The source from Netflix claimed that Markle was not invited, as “A-listers are now actively keeping away from them and events they are apparently going to attend… One told me ‘It’s not a good look to be around them.’”
