Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their second child on June 4.
The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry named their child after the Queen and Princess Diana. The couple announced Markle’s pregnancy on February 14 and said that “Archie is going to be a big brother.” In March, they revealed that they were expecting a girl during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The couple mentioned that they don’t plan to have any more children; “two is it,” they said.
“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” read a statement from Markle and Harry released on Sunday.
“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling at home,” said the statement. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
The statement also mentioned that this is the couple’s second child and that they “also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.”
